The day was beautiful. The moment Jeff saw Lisa it was as if all of his heart ended up on his face… and all I saw was love. It was magical. Seeing that kind of raw, uninhibited love in moments like this are why we do this. We know that deep, romantic, soul-mate kind of love is so very real and when I see these moments I am so blessed to be reminded of that truth. The day was full of laughter and smiles. When we got together to photograph Lisa & Jeff’s engagement it was clear that Jeff was a little shy in front of the camera. Well it certainly wasn’t apparent for his wedding day. That’s how beautiful the energy was. So much so that Jeff simply forgot there was even a camera there!

Jessica & Tony are pretty much a walking party. Never lacking a smile, a laugh, or a great sense of humour…all this came across on their wedding day, and is so evident in their wedding party too. I love when we have a couple that are up for anything! This allows us to come up with unique ideas that create edgy photographs.

Now on the surface we have a fun couple but in getting to know them better I very quickly learned they are also very dedicated, determined, sweet couple. Not only were they planning a wedding they also were building a house, work at very demanding jobs (which involves traveling ) and still fit volunteering. Wow!

Thanks to both of you – it’s obvious your happily ever after will be full of laughs and overflowing with love. Congrats! – Shawna & Kendra

It was a perfect July day, even though it was hot, with not much of a breeze, we found enough cover at a school downtown which made for some amazing photographs. I started the day with Dina and her girls getting ready at Dina’s home. As soon as I walked in the door you could see that these girls were really close and the energy was amazing! I truly enjoyed being around them!

The wedding took place at St. Josephs Cathedral and I have to say it is now one of my favorite churches. There are windows everywhere and  it’s so beautiful inside. Without a doubt you could see that Dina and Kevin truly enjoyed their day and I have to say they are one of the most easy going genuine couples I have ever met! True gems!

Thanks again Dina & Kevin.  You are just too sweet, considerate, and adorable to be real! I know you will be forever happy and enjoy your lives together.  Lots of love – Shawna & Judith

The wedding and ceremony took place at the beautiful Ranche House with a view that will take your breath away! The plan was to have the ceremony outside but this time the sun goddess decided to have a nap so it took place inside. Now if you have ever been to the Ranche House you will know that this really was not a big deal as the building is stunning!

It was well over a year ago when I was contacted and booked by Robin. I did not meet Tannis until the engagement shoot as she was out of town. I remember   Robin telling me she loved our work and had to book us! I thought to myself how wonderful it was that the groom was just as much involved with the planning process as the bride! When you see them together you can see they are definitely a team!

When I arrived where the girls were getting ready the first thing Louise said to me is “I had another bride meltdown. It was little and I feel much better now”! She was adorable! In my experience bride meltdowns are much needed and let’s face it ladies we are entitled! With the busyness of putting a wedding together and all the emotion that goes along with it why not have a little cry here and there! Louise looked absolutely stunning! Her dress was something out of a fairy tale. As you all know I LOVE SHOES so I couldn’t help myself but put more than one picture of her gorgeous blue shoes! The day was magical! There was so much emotion throughout the ceremony and I loved the energy that surrounded us! Louise & Tobias had friends & family fly in from all over the world. Scotland, England and South Africa just to mention a few! As you can imagine there were plenty tears and the laughter that filled the room including my own!

Louise your energy is infectious! Toby your sense of humour while shooting the formals kept us on our toes! You are one funny man! The two of you are sweet, loving souls. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Judith and I left the Palliser with warm fuzzies in our tummy, feeling very fortunate that we were able to share your big day with you. Love & admiration – Shawna & Judith

I arrived at Inesia’s on Saturday  all revved up for a beautiful wedding. Inesia  is one of the most calmest brides I have come across so far not to mention beautiful. She has a angelic, classic look about her. Her dress was exquisite (loved it)! She is stunning ! The look on Colin’s face when she walked down the aisle was the look of emotional bliss.

This wedding pretty much left us speechless. Everyone was amazing and fun to be around. The speeches were fantastic and hilarious. Let’s just say Colin has his fair share of funny stories that were told about him!  The decorations were thoughtful and simple, and the wedding party and their family were so laid back and easy going it didn’t feel like we were working at all.

Thank you guys for this opportunity – it was a fantastic day and sooooo stress-free (which is always refreshing!) Inesia and Colin you are just wonderful people! Judith and I are so happy for you. Cheers and congratulations in your happily ever afters!

Jeff and Lisa met through a mutual friend, Dave McGillivray. Lisa went to high school with Dave, and after high school Dave and Jeff became friends at Acadia University. After completing University, Jeff moved to Calgary. Being new to town, one summer night Dave invited Jeff to meet up with some of his Calgary friends. This is where he first met Lisa.

It was after a few months and many hours of courting that Lisa agreed to go on a date with Jeff. She brought her best friend with her and requested that he bring along a friend as well. Jeff arrived late to Joey Tomatoes as he was frantically looking for someone to come with him on short notice.  Luckily he has a number of accountant friends and it didn’t take long to find someone eager for a free meal.  The date went longer  and better than Lisa had expected, so much so that she received a parking ticket.

Jeff and Lisa had finally met again.  They continued to meet, eventually needing to buy only two meals and no longer pay parking fines.  Their relationship developed into the love and friendship they now share.

Lisa & Jeff I am looking forward to your big day! We will make sure that when we are shooting the formals we will throw a bit of extra change in the parking machine! Shawna

The day started photographing Kendra in her beautiful home in the South of Calgary. There were very few photographs taken of Kendra where she wasn’t laughing and simply embracing her day. As you know I love shoes! Well Kendra surprised me with wearing a pair of ballet slippers. When she was a little girl she used to dance and it still holds a very special place in her heart today. As you can see I just loved photographing them! It made her dress and the day seem even more magical!

Around the time people started asking dates to High School Grad, Tony and Jess were still just friends. However, he’d found out another guy Jess had been seeing was going to ask her to Grad the next weekend, so that afternoon during a diploma study session at his house he asked her. Because he was such a fun, sweet, reliable guy and Jess knew they would have a wonderful time, she said yes! By the time Grad rolled around they had started dating, and now here they are today, over five years later, getting married! Jessica & Tony I had so much fun watching the two of you enjoy each other. Your laughter it contagious!!  I can’t wait for your big day! Lots of love – Shawna

As you can see by how many shots were taken…I loved Mina’s wedding dress & shoes. Mina & girls looked simply stunning! Mina is one of those lucky girls who can leave the house without a stitch of make-up, wearing a baseball cap & still looks amazing!  While I was shooting I also noticed how lovely Mina’s Grandmother looked. She was wearing a beautiful turquoise dress & these really funky sunglasses! When I was leaving I went to grab my own sunglasses & they weren’t there. Granny was wearing them as she thought they were hers!!! I must say she looked better in them than I do! Judith was photographing the guys & from what I understand they were a little more stressed than the girls! No one knew how to tie a bow tie! They even watched YouTube for instructions but eventually ended up going back to Holt Renfrew for help! Phew!

Due to some delays we ended up having just over 30 minutes for the formals & we still managed to get some fantastic shots! Other than this & one getting ready mishap  the rest of the day went off without a hitch. The wedding was beautiful. The reception was full of fun, happy tears and laughter! It was clear to me that Mina and Jeremy are very blessed & surrounded by people who love them dearly!

Mina & Jeremy, thank you for inviting me into your lives, and into your love story. Judith & I were honoured to be a part of your day. I must say I had to hold back the tears on more than a few occasions. I know in my heart your future is extraordinarily beautiful for you both. Much love and appreciation… Shawna & Judith
