We decided to head out on a little adventure along the Bowness River. I had no idea what to expect but my jaw almost dropped to the ground when I saw the amazing canvas we were going to be working with. The scenery was just to die for, the light was just beautiful and Heather & Stefan were the perfect couple for the location! The two of them have this amazing energy together and balance each other so beautifully! You see Stefan was smitten for Heather for awhile and it wasn’t until her roommate Jane clued her in….she had absolutely no idea! To top it off Jane had also started to date Stefan’s good friend Mike and guess what they are now getting married two weeks apart! I’m going to put my money on some serious tears on both of their weddings. Thank you guys for being so incredibly amazing. Can’t wait for your wedding in 2011!

Marita and Reid are so in tune with one another it was really a gift to be able to capture a love like theirs. It is honest, deep, emotional and vulnerable. They bear it all to one another. It’s really beautiful to see in a couple and very fun to capture.

They truly LOVE people and life. Marita is a school teacher and guess what so it Reid. They are perfect for each other…..hence soul mates! We felt so honored to be a part of their wedding. Every second felt like a celebration. Their day was honest, down to earth, imaginative, quirky and creative. These guys were a perfect couple for us!

These two had their ceremony on a perfect Calgary day. The city hummed around us and we could feel the warmth of the sun on our backs. It was casual but thoughtful and people laughed easily…. that is my kind of day. Marita and Reid had a great crew on board to help them make their day amazing.

Brianna & Patrick met in high-school through some mutual friends and then ended up both going to University of Alberta in Edmonton. Within a month of university starting they were dating and have been ever since! It is 5 years later and they are now engaged! Patrick’s asked for Brianna’s hand on a graduation trip to Scotland! Now how romantic is that!!!

I love how my clients are really taking on the engagement sessions as a reflection of who they are as wonderful individuals and who they are as inspiring couples. And we couldn’t be more excited when Brianna and Patrick decided to have their E-session at Elbow Falls! The weather was beautiful. The river was gorgeous. The lush forest has been a favorite location for our clients of late. I can’t complain especially when it serves such a serene background.

I kept getting goose bumps at Rhonda & Rogers wedding!! Over and over again!  I shoot weddings all the time but somehow it never gets old for me. Every couple is unique and has a different way of projecting their love for one another… I love that; it keeps things interesting. At every wedding, with every couple, I am reminded of ways I can love my guy a little better . One thing I was reminded of  with these two is to not take life too seriously and embrace the QUIRK within each of us. True love is accepting each other for who we are at heart with patience and gratitude.

Their wedding was one of the most sincere, genuine and authentic displays of love that I have seen. During the ceremony when Rhonda said her vows to Roger, they couldn’t stop giggling and smiling. It just opened the flood gates for me as you could see the love they had for each other. So simple, but so tender and so very sweet. It didn’t help that Rhonda’s maid of honor was up there with tears welled up in her eyes. They are VERY loved.

Rhonda & Roger we hope you guys are have a great time on your honeymoon. Thank you for allowing us to share and document your beautiful day.

Lisa & Jeff are absolutely fascinating and beautiful people. Their wedding was unique in every sense of the word. The day was characterized by the colour purple. Purple cupcakes, purple M&M’s, purple lip stick cases, purple purses, purple ties, purple underwear worn by the girls and purple socks worn by the guys. I could go on and on! I loved it! It was a creative infusion inspired by purple and attention to the smallest detail. When I arrived at Lisa’s house, the girls were even wearing purple tops given to them by Lisa’s Mom whom I might add is also an amazing host! All I can say is that she is truly the Martha Stewart of Calgary, Alberta!

The day was beautiful. The moment Jeff saw Lisa it was as if all of his heart ended up on his face… and all I saw was love. It was magical. Seeing that kind of raw, uninhibited love in moments like this are why we do this. We know that deep, romantic, soul-mate kind of love is so very real and when I see these moments I am so blessed to be reminded of that truth. The day was full of laughter and smiles. When we got together to photograph Lisa & Jeff’s engagement it was clear that Jeff was a little shy in front of the camera. Well it certainly wasn’t apparent for his wedding day. That’s how beautiful the energy was. So much so that Jeff simply forgot there was even a camera there!

Jessica & Tony are like peas in a pod! For the formals we walked around Inglewood – LOVE this area so much, it’s a photographer’s playground. Add to that two super fun, giggly newlyweds, and what do you get…..endless amazing photographs!

Jessica & Tony are pretty much a walking party. Never lacking a smile, a laugh, or a great sense of humour…all this came across on their wedding day, and is so evident in their wedding party too. I love when we have a couple that are up for anything! This allows us to come up with unique ideas that create edgy photographs.

Now on the surface we have a fun couple but in getting to know them better I very quickly learned they are also very dedicated, determined, sweet couple. Not only were they planning a wedding they also were building a house, work at very demanding jobs (which involves traveling ) and still fit volunteering. Wow!

Thanks to both of you – it’s obvious your happily ever after will be full of laughs and overflowing with love. Congrats! – Shawna & Kendra
